How The Solenoid Principle Is Used in Hydraulics and Pneumatics

Solenoid valve working principle works something like this; it is basically a coil of wire which is utilized as an electromagnet. It is a device which is widely used to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy – Solenoid valve. The valve creates electric current from the magnetic field to generate linear motion.

The solenoid valve is majorly used in electrical devices like switches, liquid circuits, washing machines, dental equipment, irrigation systems, car wash systems, sprinkler systems as well as automobiles.

How Solenoid Valve Works?

A solenoid valve is made up of a coil of wire that has a corkscrew shape covered around the piston which is designed out of iron metal. A solenoid valve is an electromechanical controlled device which has a flexible ferromagnetic core in the middle – this core part is known as a plunger. The plunger functions as a small opening.  Upon the magnetic field force; the plunger is pulled in the direction of the coil, and that is how it the orifice opens. This is perhaps the primary working behind the solenoid valve.

Solenoid Valve Mechanism in Hydraulics and Pneumatics

Usually, the pneumatic valves are activated by the pressure of the compressed air. The valve comes inclusive of cylinder arrangement and piston as well as encompasses some rotating parts known as the actuator.

Here in the pneumatic valve; the solenoid valve will be controlling the pressure of the air which is flowing towards the actuator hence; it controls the action which is performed by the actuator. The preparation of the hydraulic systems is very much similar to the pneumatic systems.

In hydraulic systems the fluid is used which is liquid hence; the solenoid valve will be controlling the route of the flow of the hydraulic liquid within the cylinder; which is also responsible for controlling the motion of the ram or piston.

A Solenoid valve is widely utilized wherever the fluid direction needs to controlled automatically. The valves have been used for a variety of purposes; in the most varied types of electrical devices, equipment, machinery and plants. Furthermore; the solenoid valves are available in a range of varieties which enables to gel accordingly as per the application requirements. Since they are been widely used to trigger the larger valves which are way costly; these solenoid valves are cheaper and economical way to power your systems.

Basics You Need To Know Before Using Various Instruments

Instrumentation Basic
Dealing with the machines, equipment, and instrument is not an easy task and before getting to use any of them, you need to know about them in detail. Getting through the Instrumentation basics is quite a key when you are willing to become a successful engineer or even a mechanic.  With the changing times, new and updated instruments are coming up in the market. So, you need to know about the working of them so that you can easily get to use them. There are many basic things that you need to learn and here is a look at some of them to help you know more -

An indication of the instrument - The first things that you need to know about the instrument before you actually get to use them is how and what they indicate. You need to exactly know what the unit that the instrument is indicating is and also be able to convert it into the standard format with ease. The measurement instruments help you to know in which state the instrument is currently indicating the value.

Parts of the instrument - Second and probably the most important thing that you need to know about the Instrumentation basics is the part of the instruments. Every instrument is composed of a variety of parts each of which has its own unique function. For example, the sensor is used for sensing and it changes the state when it meets with any foreign substance. The sensor is one of the most important parts of the instrument and any problem with it affects the instrument completely. In addition to this, they also allow the amplification through amplifiers so that the results of the sensors are elevated. The last part is the display that shows the changes detected and amplified.

Classification of different instruments - Another thing that you need to know about the instruments to be completely aware of the Instrumentation basics is in how many categories they are classified. They are classified as pneumatic instruments, electric & electronic instruments, digital instruments, analog instruments amongst various others.

There are also various other things such as the range of the instrument, measuring capacity, handling manual and various others that help you to know the instrument better. Each instrument has a different handling manual and you must go through it to know the basics of instrumentation and use the instrument with utmost precision and accuracy to achieve the desired results.
